Merengue artist July Matthew “Rasputin” dies


This Sunday died the veteran merengue singer Julio Mateo (Rasputín), presumably of a Vascular Brain Accident (ACV), which lesve on mouring the Dominican artistic class

The remains of the “Old Year” interpreter will be kept at the Blandino Funeral Home on Sabana Larga Avenue, in Santo Domingo Este.

A source from the funeral home revealed that the corpse is in Forensic Pathology, so they do not have the time it will be exposed.

“El Monje Rasputín” was an outstanding trumpeter and performer who turned his song “Old Year” into the song that says goodbye to the old year and welcomes the new one.

During his career he received a series of recognitions, including the Al Mérito Award from the Association of Art Chroniclers (Acroarte).
